I was privileged to join 364 Interact members and guests attending the 2011 Christmas Luncheon on 8 December at Pride Park Stadium in Derby.
The luncheon, organised by Derby Interact, has been a regular event for over 10 years and never fails to give everyone a chance to meet up at this festive time of the year and network with old friends, colleagues and clients.
This year was another extremely successful event, although tinged with a hint of sadness following the recent death of John Rodgers of consulting engineers, Rodgers Leask of Derby. John was an active member of Derby Interact and always attended the Christmas Luncheon.
This year’s speaker was Ian Irving, a professional entertainer, who had everyone in stitches with his stories and anecdotes. As a member of the Lord’s Taverners, Ian was particularly delighted that this year’s chosen charity collection would be donated to the Lord Taverners in memory of John Rodgers, who was a Taverner himself.
Next year’s event has already been booked at Pride Park for 14 December 2012 and Paddy Harkins asked me to relay a message to all Interact Branches to come and join them at next year’s event. |
